The verse commences on a chiastic pattern: אַל־תִּדְרְשׁוּ בֵּית־אֵל (“Do not seek Bethel”), verb followed by cultic site; וְהַגִּלְגָּל לֹא תָבֹאוּ (“Nor go to Gilgal”), cultic site followed by verb.
